Time seems to have flown by! Next week is a short four day week, and then the kids have two weeks off!
We are continuing to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I am disappointed I won’t be here to finish the book. Reading the students’ responses has been very rewarding.
Our class is also making great progress in their memorization of their multiplication facts. Every day students are improving. Thank you for helping them memorize their facts! Today we spent our math time going onto www.multiplication.com. The kids got a lot of fun practice with their facts. We will have our Topic 8 test on Thursday before the break. After break they will start division concepts.
The class’s science test on Light and Energy is on Tuesday December 15th. Mrs. Panica sent out review page last week. Be sure to have your kiddo study the material so they do well on the test.
The last day before break is next Thursday the 17th, so we will have our holiday party that afternoon from 12:45-2:20!

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. We had a great week!
We have now started cursive. The kids are so excited to learn cursive. We have learned the following letters in cursive: e, l, t, i, a, d, c, o, m, n. Ask your child to show you how they can write in cursive! Here are some words to have them write using the letters we have learned so far: eel, lit, tell, tale, old, ton, and, dome, late, melt.
In language arts, we are continuing reading Carlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have enjoyed reading the students’ responses to the book in their chocolate journals.
In math we are continuing multiplication. Make sure you are quizing your child on their multiplication facts. Learning multiplication facts is a key part to third grade and it will help them tremendously when they go to fourth grade!
Our field trip to the Wild Animal Park is this coming Wednesday the 9th. We are hoping for no rain. If on Tuesday we discover that rain is forecast for Wednesday we will reschedule the trip for another day. I’ll let you know on Tuesday afternoon if we have to reschedule.
Have a great weekend!

We have been very busy over the last week!
The new novel that we are reading is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The students have a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory journal where they will be writing and responding to different topics based off of each chapter that we read.
In math we are still working on multiplication. We just finished Topic 6 in our math series that discussed multiplication concepts. After Thanksgiving break we will start Topic 7 where we will learn about different patterns in multiplication. The students are also still working daily on their multiplication facts. Be sure to help them practice their multiplications facts over the Thanksgiving break. Also the website http://multiplication.com/interactive_games.htm has some great games for students to play to practice their multiplication facts.
Dates to Remember:
11/25-11/27 – No School – Thanksgiving Break
12/9 – Field Trip to the Wild Animal Park
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Today the class earned their first marble party by filling the jar with all the marbles! To celebrate, we will have a movie/pajama party this Friday, November 20th. If your child wants to, they can wear pajamas to school on Friday and bring one stuffed animal with them. We will be watching the movie Charlotte’s Web since we just finished reading the book.

Hi everyone!
Sorry for the long break without an update. I have all the passwords now, so I am all set!
We have been really busy the last two weeks. We finished up our unit about geometry and now we have started multiplication. In addition to working out of the math book, I am having the students memorize their multiplication tables through 12. Some students have already progressed through many of their times tables! Ask your child what times table they are on and see how they are progressing.
In language arts we just finished reading Charlotte’s Web. We will start a new novel by the end of the week. In our reading series we just started reading The Talking Cloth.
In science the kids are rotating to Mrs. Panica’s class on Tuesdays and Thursdays to learn about energy.
Tomorrow, November 17th, we will be having our disaster drill. We will be outside for about an hour, so if you could sent your child to school with sunscreen on and a blanket or towel to sit on, that would be awesome!
So far things have been going really well! I would like to thank everyone for all of the warm welcomes I have received. And I look forward to spending the next 5 weeks here! Feel free to email me with any questions that you may have!
Remember because of the Thanksgiving holiday next week, there is no school on Wednesday the 23rd through Friday the 25th.

Hi students and parents,
It’s hard to believe that it is already October! Everything continues to go well in class. The kids are working a on a few in class projects for the next couple of weeks before the break. Currently they are finishing up and perfecting their podcasts. They are also working on a group research project about the continents. They are having fun and learning a lot!
We are still doing the subtraction unit in math, and have been working with bigger numbers. They will be taking their math test next week. It will cover place value, addition, subtraction, and problem solving.
In the new homework pack there is a handout for the parents about the Solar System, so you can help them. Please have them explore the Solar System page that I created for them. There are a lot of great websites and videos. The Solar System project is due on October 13th, and the test will be on the 15th. I will send home a study guide with the next homework packet. They will also be bringing home study materials that week.
We started reading a new novel this week. I’m sure you all remember Charlotte’s Web…It’s a classic and the kids are really enjoying the new book.
Thanks to our Garden parents Mara Linderman and Kelly VanGlabbeek for starting our garden! The kids made painted rocks and planted radishes for the garden. We can’t wait to see the seeds grow into plants. The kids did a great recycling art project last week, and this week they used leaves to create a person.
Next week we have a special presentation coming to our class to help the kids learn about the watershed. It should be fun and informative.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
